I Look at the World Carefully (2024)
Struggling to write an art manifesto, I began questioning where I stand in the world and what I truly believe about art. This led to a cascade of unresolved questions—ideas deeply rooted in my mind as I’ve carefully observed the world throughout my life.
I’ve found myself reflecting on the motivations behind making art, the interplay between perception and creation, and the search for meaning in a constantly shifting reality. These reflections weave through themes of time, nature, identity, and the complexities of language and communication, all framed by my personal experiences.
As a Third Culture Kid, I often grapple with notions of migration, cultural hybridity, and the fluidity of identity. My work blends visual and verbal elements, allowing me to explore how art can go beyond words, offering a way to understand ourselves, others, and the spaces we inhabit. Painting, for me, remains a timeless pursuit—an act of courage and creativity that continues to draw me in, offering a space for connection and discovery.
